Announcing the Gilmore CLASS Program
As a way to help students who need some assistance in Math or Language Arts, Lyman Gilmore is working with the Sierra Economics and Science Foundation (SESF) to provide a unique tutoring assistance program for students in the 5th through 8th grades for these two subjects.

CLASS Tutoring Proposal Overview
(Community Led Assistance for Student Success)
- To enlist community resources to volunteer to assist students in Elementary and Middle schools in Nevada County by providing one-on-one tutoring at no cost to the students, parents or schools.
- To provide intervention in the form of tutoring and mentoring in order to address poor or declining student performance before it reaches a point where recovery would be extremely difficult or pose a significant challenge.
- To provide alternative approaches to conveying concepts for students whose predominant learning styles are not being adequately addressed in the classroom.
- To provide a means for advanced students to receive supplemental assistance in order to pursue augmented curricula (math/science/programming).
